Hohen Sprenz (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania), Germany: Police Closes Neo-Nazi Youth Camp
On August 8th, after successful protests of local inhabitants, police shut down the youth camp of the right-wing extremist organization “Homeland-loyal German Youth” (Heimattreue Deutsche Jugend), close to the village of Hohen Sprenz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The camp consisted of 50 adults who were looking after 39 girls and boys aged 8 to 14. After searching the area, police found numerous items with forbidden symbols, including swasticas, such as dishtowels, written documents and diaries. The propagation of right-wing extremist ideas and national-socialist attitudes were the daily routine in the camp; boys and girls were dressed in uniforms. The police are leading an investigation against “Homeland-loyal German Youth” on the grounds of “using signs of organizations hostile to the constitution” and several politicians are calling to ban the organization.
