Dublin, Ireland: Nazi Goods on Sale in Antique Shop

August 17, 2008

A stall holder who sells Nazi memorabilia at a market in northern Dublin is now operating a second outlet at an antique centre in Co Louth. Last month the Sunday Tribune revealed how Outpost Militaria, run the by Co Down resident Paul Rea, was openly selling swastikas, daggers and antisemitic ashtrays at Balbriggan market.

Last Sunday the stall was absent from Balbriggan market due to poor weather but Rea is now operating inside Crystal Antiques in Carlingford, Co Louth. An array of Nazi stock is available, including swastikas, SS flags, Adolf Hitler busts and Nazi stamps, as well as replica firearms.

Rea says he is not a Nazi sympathiser and a sign at the stall says the items are "sold in historical interest only and not to promote, condone, or offend political or religious ideals". However, Rea says business is very good and that along with renting space in Carlingford, he would be back at Balbriggan market that same day. He claimed that despite outrage over his Nazi material, the owners of Balbriggan market had yet to ban him from setting up his stall there.
